HOW DO YOU USE YOUR WINCH? CONTEST WINNERS AND ENTRIES

Posted by Ryan from North Carolina on March 23, 2007
I've got an off-brand 3000 lb. winch, and it gets used hard every time I ride. The only problem is I have to keep replacing it after it burns up!

The First Picture: This is the only picture that was taken just to prove that I was truly stuck on my '05 Honda Rubicon. We both have WARN 2.5ci ATV Winches on our Rubicons which were used jointly to pull me off this tree root and through the hole in front of me. Brandon had to place his Rubicon behind a tree and winch out to me, however during the winching process his rear wheels lifted off the ground to several inches just trying to get me unstuck. WARN saved me from the trap and we still Ride with Pride behind WARN.

The Second Picture: This is me pulling Paul backwards out of some of the softest marsh-like mud we had seen in a while. As you can see it was not that deep, just so sticky our Outlaw tires could not get us out so we relied on the WARN winches to go fishing for Rubicons.

You have a great product, I am looking forward to many more great years of service. Thank You, Sam

Five of us were making our way across some extreme terrain in the North woods of Wisconsin when unknown to us we entered a bog! As you can see this situation got serious in a hurry! Two of us had WARN winches and it was up to us to take turns first winching out our machines then rigging to pull the three stragglers one-at-a time. It took us the next four hours to cover the 100yd distance across the marsh! We must have made single and double rigs more than 50 times. The entire time the black flies were upon us! Thankfully, our WARN winches were equal to the task. If we didn't have our winches we might still be stuck in that bog. Needless to say we were beat by the time we got out. Thanks for making a great product!

I recently took a trip with a buddy of mine and as you can see I tried to cross this LITTLE stream. Unfortunately I did not make it to "THE OTHER SIDE". I enjoy riding my ATV as much as possible and a winch is something I have been thinking about getting. I have read many reviews and they almost all lean toward the WARN brand winch. So I looked into it and my lord are they not cheap. As with any good product you pay for what you get. I tried otherwise and bought a cheap $89 dollar winch and needless to say the cable has snapped three times and I think I can pull harder than the winch can. I would LOVE to WIN a WARN winch. If not anything I hope you enjoy the picture.
Thanks Cris Lane

In Colombia in South America is no way without WARN. This is single a weekend history.

Me and a friend of mine decided to take our ATV's up Claque mountain behind Kitimat, following a sled trail up to the cabin. We knew it was muddy, but never expected what we were in for. About 2 hours before dark we hit the mud hole in the picture and it took the 2 of us the remaining daylight and then some to get it out (with a WARN 2500lb on the front and Champion 2000lb on the back). The pressure washer got a thorough workout the next day!

I organise one of the leading 4x4 winching events in the UK and for two months before March I spend the time out and about on my Honda Fourtrax setting out sections for the event. The competitors generally use the best, the WARN 8274 on both the front and rear of their trucks. On the Honda, I have a trusty WARN 2500, which has never let me down in the three years I've been using it. Setting out courses aimed at getting full size trucks stuck often means the same for the ATV, and being on my own I'd be in deep trouble without my winch.

I love going ATV-ing with my friends. We always try to test each other by seeing who can make it through some of the mud holes, and dare each other. We always end up saying, don't worry we can winch you out. It is always good to know we have WARN winches on our quads and don't have any worries, we can just go out and have fun.

I needed to pull some old lawn edging and fence posts out of the ground. I built this "post puller" that uses winch power from my Honda Rincon. The puller is mounted via a custom built receiver hitch that mounts over a custom tow hook mounted to the front of my warn bumper. Plus of course the winch gets used for all of the "normal" things too.

One morning while hunting on a ranch lease in Mexico I decided to take the short way to my hunting spot. The short way, of course, meant traveling across the road that no one would dare to cross, including lots of mud and water. To be honest I just really wanted to have a good day of hunting and mudding and I knew I was safe because I had a WARN winch on the atv that I was driving. To make a long story short, take a look at the pictures. If the ATV didn't have a winch, chances are it would still be sitting in that water hole, but as the pictures demonstrate, the WARN winch actually dragged the ATV out of the mud more than 30 feet. This was actually an extreme test because the cable didn't reach any tree to buckle it to, so I had to use two more tow straps and the full length of the winch cable to get it out of the mud. I really recommend everyone that enjoys four wheeling or camping to consider installing one of these winches on your ATV because you never know when you are going to need it. Thanks for building great winches.

At each year, me and my friends go for a wild ride in our vast region, north of Quebec. We travel close to 700 km at each year, since 4 years. I have a bunch of photos, but not one where I'm using my winch, but I use it a lot during this kind of ride. We don't follow the ATV trail, we prefer using something like a trail, mud, snow, gravel, sand and swamp, but we make special attention to not make ecological disorder, or a disaster with our ATV.
We live in a special region for using ATVs all year for different purpose. During spring, I use my ATV and my WARN winch to go into my wood camp to trap, ATV ride and prepare for hunting season. During summer, I use it to go fishing and riding. In fall, I use it to go hunting and my WARN 2.5ci is my best friend to winch my moose and during winter, I use my winch and my plow to have a clean entry of my house .... sorry for my english ...

I was stuck in deep mud, but I wasn't worried knowing I had a WARN winch!
